I have loved letterforms and type my whole life. As a child, I would stop dead in my tracks to study the styling of certain letters on signs or in books and adapt them into my handwriting. An education in design has given me the knowledge and skills to pursue my interests and passions in making connections between the visuals and communication. Design for me has always been about the details because every aspect and component are interconnected to make the work impactful. I value design that is thoughtful and purposeful. As a result, I aim to communicate both throughout my work, especially with letterpress and calligraphy. Both of these skills have helped me embrace my process and who I am as a designer. Most recently, I have been a teaching assistant in two design courses. For me, the experience has reinforced the importance of communication and design fundamentals, as well as what it means to be an awesome designer.
